we had a busy weekend – and i have little photographic evidence to show for it. Ryan is becoming increasingly embarrassed when i pull out my camera – which is definitely a bummer for me as he is one of my favorite subjects. maybe he will come around…
friday night we participated in a work-related bowling for charity event in the suburbs. i had a good time – and 2 frames went by pretty quickly despite our group of over 70 participants, food and drinks. we raised a lot of money for charity, and even got to take home some new water bottles. it was a nice break in the routine, and the first work social event i have been to all year – long overdue.
saturday Ang and i went to the Holiday Food and Gift Festival at the convention center. it always comes up so early in the holiday season and i was glad not to miss it this year. i was also glad that Ryan decided to sit this one out, because although he has the best of intentions, food and gift festivals are just not his thing. Ang loved it though, and it was a nice way to spend a drizzly saturday afternoon.
i had the great luck of winning a pair of tickets to the new comedy club for saturday night. despite some initial hesitation, we decided to check it out – and i’m so glad that we did. the club is on the second floor of a building on the inner east side, with 2 lounges and a pretty good sized performance room. we were seated somewhat close to the stage, and while maintaining the “2 drink minimum” that all comedy clubs seem to have, the Helium Comedy Club has extended that to a “2 item minimum” which allowed us to have some food and non-alcoholic beverages. we also got to see several hilarious comedy acts in a rather intimate environment. i don’t think i had ever been to an actual comedy club, and it was overall a great experience!
yesterday was dedicated to homework (Ryan) and errands/cleaning/miscellaneous weekend activities (me). ninja also started feeling sick later in the day, but this morning he seems to have come back to life and be doing much better.
